Isaiah calls Israel a light unto the nations. The word people tend to hear is chosen. The word actually being used is closer to assigned.
What the Torah says about God, justice, holiness, and the dignity of every person was never meant to stay in one community. It was meant to be legible from the outside.
The image sets the terms, too. A light does not argue and does not compel. It shines, and anyone who wants to see by it can come closer. Make real Torah wisdom available, and let the people who want it find their way to it.
