The eagle has stood for the same things in American design for two centuries: strength, independence, and the sense that a country is answerable for what it does with its power.
This is a vintage treatment on purpose. Wearing an older American image is not a claim that every chapter of the history behind it was good. It is a claim that some of what we inherited is worth keeping, and that telling the difference is the actual work.
E Pluribus Unum. Out of many, one. A country made of people who did not start out alike, holding something in common anyway.
Even the lettering was chosen with that in mind. It is not the exact face used on the Declaration of Independence, but it comes out of the same era of English and American printing, and it carries the same spirit: a little formal, cut by hand, made to be read on paper that was meant to last. What you see here is a bolder cut of it, so it holds its weight on fabric the way the original held its weight on the page.
Printed front and center on a heavyweight unisex crewneck sweatshirt. Sizes S through 3XL.
